The welcoming stench of sewage
Dear Editor,
I want to say how appalled I was to drive by the entrance to the Ocho Rios Cruise Ship Pier and smell the horrible scent of sewage.
The sewage plant that is there has been malfunctioning for the past 20 years and still has not been fixed.
About 15 years ago they had a town hall meeting in Ocho Rios and I got up and complained to Minister Ed Bartlett and Minister Shahine Robinson about the horrible scent welcoming us into our tourist mecca. They said they would do something about it, yet 15 years later there’s still the horrible stench.
What kind of Government do we have running the country that disrespects Ocho Rios and our visitors so much that they would welcome them into one of our biggest cruise ship ports with the scent of sewage.
How is it that we can find money to spend on huge celebrations and promotions, but we do not have money to fix the sewage?
They found money to landscape the cruise ship pier, but wouldn’t it be more important to fix the sewage problem first?
I’m terribly disappointed.
