WATCH: Samuda commissions $113m pipeline project in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica— Over 1,100 households in the Luana to Middle Quarters areas of St Elizabeth will benefit from the $113 million pipeline project which was commissioned on Friday by Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Matthew Samuda.
Residents from Luana, Baptist, Point, Middle Quarters, Cragie, Clinic Road and sections of New Holland will benefit from the project, which aims at improving the service of the commodity in their homes.
“We can assure residents that this newly laid 150mm pipeline will serve them better as several elevated areas are now receiving piped water and this system will support these communities for more than 20 years,” Samuda said.
Residents have expressed relief at this upgrade, stating that it will drastically improve at-home lives for those who did not have water or had low water pressure.
“We are happy that we are upgraded from a lower standard pump to a higher one, and the line is upgraded so we will get better water pressure so that we can have efficient service and we can get things done,” said Andre Lawrence, a resident from Luana.
