#WorldChamps: Jamaica finishes fifth in Mixed Relay final
EUGENE, Oregon –The Jamaican 4×400 metres mixed relay team had to settle for fifth place in the final of the event at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The quartet of Demish Gaye, Tiffany James-Rose, Karayme Bartley and Stacey-Ann Williams finished fifth with a time of 3:12.17 seconds. Jamaica won the silver medal at the first staging of the event at the 2019 Doha World Athletics Championships.
Meanwhile, The Dominican Republic won the gold in a world-leading 3:09.82 seconds, while The Netherlands set a new national record of 3:09.90 seconds to secure the silver medal. The defending champions, United States, rounded out the top three with a season’s best time of 3:10.16 seconds.
