‘Best of the 90s’ returns with a bang
LAST weekend’s double staging of Wray and Nephew Yesterday: Best of the 90s has been hailed a success by the organisers.
According to co-promoter Gyete Ghartey, both the Kingston and Ocho Rios editions enjoyed strong support and had great vibes that kept patrons entertained.
“It was great, we were extremely happy to see our patrons out and having fun. Really have to say special thanks to our sponsors, Wray & Nephew, Superior Honda, Trojan condoms, Boom and Wata for helping us to enhance the experience of the patrons,” Ghartey said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
The first event, dubbed the pre-Independence edition, took place at the Mas Camp in St Andrew on Friday, August 5.
“The pre-Independence staging was quite fitting, celebrating the birth of an independent nation while seeing the rebirth of our brand Wray and Nephew Yesterday,” Ghartey said.
DJs Ultimate Shane from Mandeville and Kingston’s DJ Liquid, DJ Marvin and Arif Cooper provided the musical thrills that had the large turnout of patrons inside the Mas Camp rocking to retro hits.
The following night, the action shifted focus to Ocho Rios with the Bikini and Short Shorts Edition at Island Village Beach.
“We are extremely pleased with the turnout. St Ann came out and celebrated with us non-stop dancing and performances by Bounty Killer and Mr Easy. The fireworks that we had were really appreciated by our patrons along with the great selections of the hits of the 1990s,” Ghartey added.
Hyperactive Sound, DJ Rush and DJ Ashile provided the musical delights at that staging.
