Open Sunday non-two – Unruly Dude, Real Boss, El Cid the main combatants

Ten horses are down to compete for top honours in the $980,000 Caymanas Park 1959 feature, a native-bred three-year-old (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-old and upwards maidens over one mile (1,600m) on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Caymanas Park.

The runners are analysed below.

1. THIRTYONEKISSES: (3 b f by Savoy Stomp – Shahar) – Made the frame on last, finishing fourth behind Pretty Girl over 5 ½ furlongs. Thirtyonekisses is better suited to the distance of a mile should not be disgraced with his main offering being a place on the board.

2. UNRULY DUDE: (3 b c by Bern Identity – Wonder Girl) – Ran a good third behind Perfect Brew and Real Boss over seven furlongs on August 6. With the trip extended and Real Boss present, Unruly Dude might fall short of the target again, but that effort came after a break, and with that run in tow, he is going to have a strong say in the outcome. Note, Unruly Dude races with the visor on.

3. MONSIEUR BLUE: (3 b g by Tourist – La Hague) – Unplaced in the Jamaica Derby on August 6. Monsieur Blue should improve on that effort now that he is back in his grade and should earn for his connections.

4. D HEAD CORNERSTONE: (3 b c by Bern Identity – Soul of the Heart) – Finished a tame fourth in the recent Jamaica Derby. Based on that run, D Head Cornerstone, again racing in his grade, will be comfortable, and the distance of a mile is in his favour. Champion jockey Anthony Thomas has retained the ride on D Head Cornerstone.

5. REAL BOSS (USA): (3 ch f by Tonalist – Hisse) – Came storming towards the end to finish a length behind Perfect Brew over seven furlongs two weeks ago. Real Boss should relish this extension trip and could get up in time for the win. This foreigner is steadily improving and has looked good at exercise in the mornings.

6. EL CID: (3 ch g by Soul Warrior – Wap) – Finished fourth on his first attempt at the non-winners of two level behind Perfect Brew over 6 ½ furlongs on August 6. El Cid should enjoy this distance and is fit and proper to put in another good run. El Cid is a threat and should be watched closely as the champion trainer continues his winning dominance on the three-year-old maiden races.

7. RAINSVILLE: (3 gr g by Casual Trick – Fiftyshadesofray) – Seventh in the recent Jamaica Derby Classic. Little or no improvement is expected from Rainsville in this one.

8. POWER OF FAITH: (3 ch g by Key To Power – Yield To Faith) – Has no chance of winning.

9. PRINCE SANJAY: (3 ch c by Emperor Hall – Dalla Fifty) – Did well to finish sixth in the recent Jamaica Derby Classic. Back against weaker opposition, Prince Sanjay’s stocks for a win have been improved, but he will have to dig deep.

10. LION OF EKATI (USA): (3 dk b/br g by Tale of Ekati – Indian Conduct) – His only real effort of consequence to date was a second-place finish behind Pelicula over 10 furlongs on July 17. Lion of Ekati will find these too hot to handle, with a minor placing his best hope of earning.

El Cid
D Head Cornerstones
