And It’s A Wrap!

And It’s A Wrap!

There’s no disputing the success of the 23rd iteration of the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards held Thursday, September 29 at Devon House. Hundreds of patrons, delighted in the evening’s offerings that commenced with awards and applause, segued into the taste, eat and drink component of the gastronomic affair that has served to elevate the narrative around the culinary landscape.

there’s no doubt that The Rock, and indeed the region, is a culinary hotspot. And, in fact, the Food Awards was borne out of this mission — for visitors to flock our borders, not just for the unsurpassed beauty of our shores, but the tantalising fare.

Part of the magic of the evening that unfolded against the backdrop of the spectacular mansion built by George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first black millionaire, were the stunning booths constructed in 60 hours — owing to heavy rains that washed the island. Inside these booths awaiting the elegantly clad patrons were affable and proud chefs, culinary artisans and mixologists serving the very best. Bragging rights were secured by some. But the camaraderie, the sight of industry players saluting those who have served the landscape well were the evening’s most important takeaway.

As we wrap the 23rd and ready for the 24th we remain a band of believers that in unity there is strength and we’re grateful to have been a part of this history.

SAVE THE DATE: THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2023. And, yes, there’s a 50 per cent chance of rain!
