AFTER a three-year hiatus, beach party series Chug It returns to Wavz Beach in Negril on Sunday, October 16.

A strong line-up of DJs is slated to start the day’s entertainment, which includes sounds from Kingston and western Jamaica. ZJ Liquid, Platinum Exclusive, XX3RA Fyah, DJ Spugy, Ricky Fresh and Black Kolaz Sound will prep the crowd for the feature performances of the night, under the guide of hosts MC Blazze and Energy Di Dancer.

Fast-rising talents Silk Boss and Bayka are set to take to the spotlight for début performances on the Chug It stage. Montego Bay’s Silk Boss is quickly becoming a household name in Jamaica with his breakout hit Mankind and his latest single Sorry, which is trending among YouTube’s most streamed videos in Jamaica. He is expected to captivate an eager audience with other songs from his catalogue, including Life Story, Surgery, and Geet Weh.

Newcomer Bayka is set to bring his unique flow and love for dancehall music to the stage. Releases such as She Like It, 1Uptown, Top Tier, Craves, and Sinna Life have contributed to his increasing popularity.

Chug It organisers are looking forward to its return to Negril.

PR and Communications Manager for Chug It Vanassa Metzger said the cooler-friendly event’s return will also generate a financial boost to Negril and its environs.

“Patrons and service providers alike are buzzing in the resort town as a vast amount of persons in the Savanna-la-Mar, Negril, and Lucea regions are set to benefit from the employment and revenue opportunities the event brings, which includes bartenders, carpenters, production agents, hotels, and vendors to name a few,” she said.

“Since the lifting of COVID restrictions in Jamaica the event has hosted several highly successful stagings at our home base at Sugarman’s Beach, Portmore. Patrons in the west have been urging for the return to Negril and we are excited to deliver on our pledge in supporting and promoting Jamaican culture with this Heroes’ Sunday staging,” she added.
