Man charged with killing of woman, wounding of daughter
A 22-year-old man from Pittsburgh Road, Spanish Town in St Catherine has been charged with murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
The charges are in connection with the October 14 murder of a mother and the wounding of her nine-year-old daughter in Homestead, also in the parish.
The police said the accused, Tray Lawes, was charged Friday.
Police reported that about 7:45 pm on October 14, 24-year-old Alicia Allwood, otherwise called ‘Poochie’, of Mansfield Avenue in Spanish Town, and her daughter were returning home from a wake in the community, when they were allegedly attacked by Lawes, who fired at them.
The mother and daughter ran, police said. However, Lawes allegedly chased them and continued firing, killing Allwood.
Her daughter was admitted to hospital for treatment.
Lawes is set to appear in court soon.
