Mayberry Investments Limited was one of the key sponsors of For The Children gala held recently in New York to raise money for a new health centre in St Ann. Gary Peart, CEO of the financial entity, says this is the second time his organisation has rallied with the Issa Trust Foundation for this worthy cause and he is pleased at the results.

“This is our second time working with Issa [Trust Foundation]. We established our first collaboration with the foundation in 2019. The staging that year was successful, much like the previous ones. The concert was held at the Couples San Souci resort in St Mary and featured performances by Air Supply, Third World, and Koffee. We were able to gather funds that were desperately needed for the foundation’s programmes as well as the paediatric ward at St Ann’s Bay Hospital,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

The gala, organised by the Issa Trust Foundation, raised US$417,000, surpassing the US$200,000 goal.

‘For The Children’ charity gala was headlined by veteran reggae group Third World. Leon and Peoples band and DJ Norie was also billed for the event.

Peart noted that he was pleased with the turnout, and the class acts who made the evening memorable.

“We are overwhelmingly appreciative and pleased with the result. Everyone who was involved in the conception and execution of this event showed up and gave it their all. Also, the event’s ability to involve our diaspora is one of its beauties, and it was successful in doing so. The performances at the venue were excellent, and the setting was lovely. We are acting in the public’s interest, and the staging of these events confirms that things can only become better in the future,” he said.

The Issa Trust Foundation was established in 2005 by Couples Resorts as a non-profit organisation. The mission of the foundation is to provide a system of prevention, health promotion and education, community health improvement and other services to promote the well-being and development of the Jamaican people.

Peart added that Mayberry will continue benevolent efforts to contribute to the development of Jamaica.
