I do believe that Messi needs it more. I think that with CR7 winning the Euros it has taken off some of the pressure on him in the GOAT conversation. However, in my opinion, neither needs a World Cup to define how great they are at the sport, but for the masses that weigh that heavily, I would say Lionel Messi.
