Get The Gabby Glam Christmas Look
With the party scene on in earnest Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) sat down with a few of our in-demand MUAs for a quick tutorial on, you guessed it, getting the perfect festive beat.
Up first today: Gabrielle Waite, CEO, Gabby Glam Co.
Skin Prep: Before applying any type of make-up, it is important to first prep the skin, by using a water-based moisturiser. I personally love the Embryolisse Moisturizer as it moisturises and primes the skin.
Foundation application: After the skin has been prepped, we go in with the Nars Radiant long-wear foundation in the shade Moorea and apply with a stippling brush all over the face and neck.
Highlight and contour: We then highlight with a foundation shade 2-3 shades lighter than her foundation shade (Syracuse), and apply this under the eye, the centre of the forehead, the bridge of the nose and centre of the chin. After blending those areas with a damp sponge or beauty blender, we go in to contour a frame the face. We apply the contour shade 2-3 shades darker than her foundation (Cadiz), and place this along the perimeter of the face and from the top of the ear down to the cheekbones.
Set the face: Once all cream applications have been completed, we go in with a translucent setting powder. I like to use the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, to apply this all over the face which will set the creams in place.
Blush and highlight: To add some colour to the skin, we add a matte blush from Playing In Makeup by Yolondo in the shade Zinnia to complement her skin. I apply this on the apples of the cheeks to the temples. I then follow with a Mac highlighter in the shade Gold Deposit, and place this above the blush and the bridge of her nose.
Brow sculpting: After completing the skin, it’s time to focus on sculpting the brows with Absolute New York brow pencil and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze. Using hair-like strokes to fill in the brows and using a spoolie to hold the brow in place.
Priming the lid: It’s now time to prime the lids and get rid of any discolouration before applying the eyeshadow. We do this, using the foundation shade two to three shades lighter than her foundation shade. Then setting with our Laura Mercier loose powder.
Eyeshadow application: We now go in with our shadows, using the Juvia’s Place palette. Starting with applying the shade Kano in the crease, then placing the shadow Mino on the outer third of the lid, and finally using the shade Ahosi and placing this on the lid.
Eye detailing: To add more dimension to the eye, we go in with the black Inglot gel liner to the line the top and bottom of the lash line. We then follow with applying lashes using a black duo lash glue on the band of the lashes, making it tacky by blowing on the band for 5-10 seconds then placing as close to the top lash line as possible.
Lining of the cupid’s bow and gloss: Using the Mac liner in the shade Chestnut, we go in to out line the lips and blend inwards, we then follow up with a bright red lippie in the shade Fierce from Gabby Glam Cosmetics, perfect for the Christmas season.
Setting spray: After putting this beautiful look together it’s important to set the make-up to give it a skin-like finish and to help with the longevity of the make-up. For this we use the Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray. And Voilà!!
