MC Nuffy launches ‘Sting riddim’ ahead of show’s December 26 return

KINGSTON, Jamaica — With Sting slated to make its long-awaited return to a jam-packed Christmas calendar on Monday, December 26, the show’s emcee, Nuffy said the comeback just wouldn’t be complete without a one-of-a-kind riddim.

Aimed at showcasing the new talent expected to make their Sting debut, the riddim dubbed the Warlord Riddim was released earlier this month and features only up-and-coming acts.

“Sting nuh keep over seven years so mi say if Sting a come back it mek sense we come back wid a bad riddim. So mi team up wid a producer name DJ Genie from St Vincent and put the riddim together. Di people dem weh mi have pan di riddim a mostly new artiste dem weh nuh get dem big buss yet innu because mi did just wah show off dem talent in a way,” he said.

“Nuff a dem this will be their first Sting and mi did just wah get dem through di gate properly. A bad song pan a bad riddim a di best way fi do dat. So people like Sita, MayDay DC, Unknown Gringo, Fully Bad and Empress Kuanna deh pan di juggling”

Dubbing himself dancehall’s ‘Bob The Builder’, Nuffy said he has always believed in ushering in new talent to the local music space and says there’s no better stage to do it than Sting.

“MC Nuffy has always been about new talent from the start because everybody deserve dem shot. Most people can’t build nuttn new but mi is a yute well like bring supmn new to the table. Mi is a Bob the Builder fi dancehall,” he said.

Nuffy who is currently promoting the artiste Sita said the up-and-coming entertainer was a big part of the reason he decided to create a riddim. According to him, the entertainer is the ‘baddest’ female deejay out of St Vincent and he wanted to introduce her to the Jamaican industry with a bang.

“Mi did wah she run out wicked because she a di baddest thing from dem parts deh and mi did wah she come here ready fi clash wid any female artiste inna Jamaica because we all know dat a di Sting reputation. She ready, Sting ready and the riddim hot,” he said.

“Di generation now has never seen a Sting. Dem only hear bout it and watch clips on YouTube. When yuh look pan di genre, this show was the original gateway for dancehall artistes, di original real authentic dancehall show,” he continued. “When yuh say yah run di place, Sting is where you go to prove yuhself. Just like yuh have the Olympics or the World Cup weh people go show off dem hard work, Sting is the dancehall World Cup.”

MC Nuffy said come Monday, Jamaica will be re-introduced to one of the best dancehall stage productions in music history and is encouraging all dancehall fans to support the event.

“Sting arena is for the gladiators. If yuh bad as an artiste and yuh nuh go Sting, yuh just a talk bad or yuh badmind. This a weh yuh come show people say yuh di baddest thing. Nuff people glad it come back and wid acts like Skeng, Jada Kingdom, Shaniel Muir, Dovey Magnum, Jashii, Valiant and more on the lineup, yuh cant miss it.”

Sting is slated to take place at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in Priory, St Ann.
