NWC staff motivate wards to pursue dreams during annual outreach
SOUTHFIELD, St Elizabeth — As part of their annual outreach programme, staff from the western division of the National Water Commission (NWC) recently visited the Manning’s Boys’ Home in this town, where they made a donation of personal care and food items to the over 20 males being cared for by the institution.
During a rap session, NWC engineer Neville Green encouraged the young men to actively pursue their dreams and to play a positive role in society. “Do not give up on your dreams, you can achieve them. Be determined to put in the hard work, seek guidance from good role models and you will reap success. We believe in all of you,” he emphasised.
The NWC team also took the opportunity to educate the boys and staff on the topics of water conservation and treatment, after which the cheerful and attentive wards, age ranging from 13 to 18 years, were feted and treated to ice cream and cake.
For her part, assistant manager of the home Petula Maitland-Bennett expressed gratitude for the items received: “So happy to have the NWC staff with us today and so thankful for the donation. This will indeed benefit the home greatly and we look forward to a continued relationship with you.”
The NWC’s divisional outreach initiative was convened approximately 10 years ago. Each year, team members give of their resources all in concerted effort to effect change and to support the different communities within the division.
