Ten biggest companies on JSE

As we reflect on the year 2022, we’ll be analysing the 10 largest companies on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) by market capitalisation.

1) Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited (SJ): market capitalisation $222.27 billion; closing price $56.91; 12.61 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. SJ is a financial services provider primarily involved in insurance, banking, investments, and other related services.

Shares outstanding: 3,905,634,918

52-week range: $45.20 – $61.50

1-year performance: +3.45 per cent

Dividend yield: 2.82 per cent

2) NCB Financial Group Limited (NCBFG): market capitalisation $197.14 billion; closing price $79.92; 11.18 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. NCBFG is a financial services group operating in insurance, banking, and wealth management across the Caribbean.

Shares outstanding: 2,466,762,828

52-week range: $78.02 – $134.00

1-year performance: –35.68 per cent

Dividend yield: nil

3) Massy Holdings Limited: market capitalisation $158.29 billion; closing price $79.97; 8.98 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. Massy is a Trinidad-based conglomerate with portfolios in integrates retail, gas products, motors and machines.

Shares outstanding: 1,979,384,540

52-week range: $74.00 – $160.00

Year to date performance: –35.07 per cent

Dividend yield: 4.41 per cent

4) Guardian Holdings Limited (GHL): market capitalisation $134.68 billion; closing price $580.46; 7.64 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. GHL is a Trinidad-based group of companies focused on insurance services; it is a subsidiary of NCBFG.

Shares outstanding: 232,024,923

52-week range: $485.25 – $650.00

1 year performance: +11.91 per cent

Dividend yield: 2.79 per cent

5) Barita Investments Limited (BIL): market capitalisation $123.63 billion; closing price $101.30; 7.01 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. BIL is a licensed securities dealer and primary dealer for the Bank of Jamaica.

Shares outstanding: 3,111,572,984

52-week range: $83.50 – $115.05

1-year performance: +3.24 per cent

Dividend yield: 2.99 per cent

6) Scotia Group Jamaica Limited (SGJ): market capitalisation $106.51 billion; closing price $34.23; 6.04 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. SGJ is a financial services group involved in banking, wealth management, and insurance.

Shares outstanding: 3,111,572,984

52-week range: $30.11 – $39.00

1-year performance: –4.94 per cent

Dividend yield: 4.09 per cent

7) GraceKennedy Limited (GK): market capitalisation: $82.81 billion; closing price $83.22; 4.70 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. GK is a multinational conglomerate focused on financial services and food trading.

Shares outstanding: 995,128,505

52-week range: $75.00 – $115.00

1-year performance: –16.80 per cent

Dividend yield: 2.43 per cent

8) Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL): market capitalisation $78.93 billion; closing price $29.93; 4.48 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. SVL is a management company with subsidiaries in the micro-financing, betting, gaming and lottery operations segments.

Shares outstanding: 2,637,254,926

52-week range: $16.81 – $34.67

1-year performance: +68.24 per cent

Dividend yield: 3.11 per cent

9) Wisynco Group Limited (WISYNCO): market capitalisation $66.37 billion; closing price $17.67; 3.76 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. Wisynco is a major distributor and manufacturer in the fast-moving consumer goods space.

Shares outstanding: 3,756,250,000

52-week range: $16.00 – $26.90

1-year performance: +5.81 per cent

Dividend yield: 2.26 per cent

10) JMMB Group Limited (JMMBGL): market capitalisation $64.44 billion, closing price $32.95, 3.65 per cent weighting of entire Main Market. JMMBGL is a financial services provider with commercial banking and other related businesses.Shares outstanding: 1,955,552,532

52-week range: $30.00 – $61.24

1-year performance: –16.46 per cent

Dividend yield: 1.52 per cent

NCB Financial Group’s stock price decline pushed it below the number one spot.
Massy Holdings is the largest cross listed company and third largest company on the JSE by market capitalisation.
Guardian Holdings had a market cap of $134.68 billion at the end of 2022.
Barita became the fifth largest company on the JSE in 2022.
Scotia Group Jamaica had a four per cent dividend yield.
GraceKennedy made up nearly five per cent of the Main Market.
Supreme Ventures Limited entered the top 10 rankings of Main Market companies in 2022.
Wisynco Group’s market cap grew to $66.37 billion in 2022.
JMMB Group is the tenth largest company on the JSE by market capitalisation.
