Tivoli edge Waterhouse in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Tivoli Gardens snapped a seven-game winless run as they edged Waterhouse FC 1-0 in their Jamaica Premier League encounter at the Anthony Spalding Complex on Monday.
Keno Simpson’s second goal of the season, late in the second half, saw Tivoli Gardens move a place up to 11th in the points tables on 10 points, three points away from the relegation zone.
Waterhouse saw their two-game winning run end and are in ninth place on 13 points.
In the first game of the double header, Mt Pleasant FA and Vere United played out a 0-0 draw. The result means the St Ann-based Mt Pleasant failed to regain the JPL lead but moved to within a point of leaders Cavalier FC who are on 22 points.
Simpson got the winner for Tivoli Gardens in the second game when he overlapped down the left, cut inside, beat two defenders and fired past the Waterhouse goalkeeper.
