MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former national champions Herbert Morrison Technical and Campion College will be going for back-to-back wins when the quarter-finals of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) national Under-19 boys’ basketball play-offs continue Monday.

Herbert Morrison and Campion College lead Group A after wins over Munro College and Calabar High, respectively, while Jamaica College and St Catherine High, who lead Group B, are to play on Tuesday.

In the Under-16s on Monday, Manchester High and Campion will also seek back-to-back wins when they play Jamaica College and Munro College, respectively. Both games are set for Munro College.

Herbert Morrison had started the quarter-finals on Thursday with a big 68-23 win over Munro College in their Under-19 game in Montego Bay.

Hubert Rodney, with 22 points, led three players who scored in double figures for Herbert Morrison Technical.

Herbert Morrison were beaten 42-62 by Manchester High in the Under-16 game, despite rallying from 18 points down at half-time to within nine points midway the fourth quarter.

In the Under-19 game, the home team got off to a fast start and led 15-0 before ending the first quarter leading 18-2. They were up 32-11 at half-time and 54-21 after the third quarter.

Rodney had a double-double, featuring 22 points and 10 rebounds, as well as six steals, to lead Herbert Morrison. Shemar Martin scored 14 points and had seven steals, while S’Aire Patterson scored 10 points.

Makahaya Morris also had a double-double, securing 13 rebounds and 14 steals.

Marques Forrester led Munro College with nine points, while Chad Hendricks and Joel Stone had four each.

In the first game, Steve Collins had a double-double for Manchester High, scoring 10 points and had 14 rebounds. Jaedon Jones led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed nine steals, while Shavar Bogle scored 15 points.

Trevaughn Bernard led Herbert Morrison with 14 points and Joshua Ferguson scored 11.

Manchester High held a slim 11-9 lead after the first quarter before outscoring Herbert Morrison 20-4 in the second quarter to lead 31-13 at the half.

The home team mounted a rally in the third quarter, starting with an 11-4 run and trimmed the deficit to 35-47 to going into the fourth quarter when they further cut it to nine points with just over four minutes to go.

Manchester High, however, remained calm and reclaimed the initiative to run away with the big win.
