Jamaican Andre McDonald, son of Beachy Stout, found guilty in wife’s killing
SAN ANTONIO– After lengthy deliberations, Andre McDonald on Friday was found guilty on a lesser charge of manslaughter for the 2019 death of his wife, Andreen McDonald in the United States.
The verdict came after deliberations ensued for 12-and-a-half hours and an “Allen Charge’ read by the presiding judge, Judge Frank Castro.
The ‘Allen Charge’ is instituted to put further pressure on the jury to come to a unanimous decision. If not, Castro could have declared a mistrial.
The jury also had the option in charging McDonald for murder or manslaughter.
McDonald elected Castro to ultimately decide his sentence and could face a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison.
On Monday, the length of punishment will be determined despite objections from the defence that more time is needed to adequately prepare.
McDonald will be spending this weekend in custody and during the punishment phase of the trial.
McDonald is the son of Portland businessman Everton “Beachy Stout” McDonald, who is charged with the murder of his first and second wife.
