Title holders St Mary High take Eastern Champs lead
Defending champions St Mary High hold a 15-point lead heading into Today’s second and final day of the Eastern Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
St Mary High have 155 points ahead of Titchfield (140). They are followed by Oberlin (82.5), Port Antonio (69), St Thomas Technical (58), Happy Grove (49.5), Morant Bay (45), St Mary’s College (41), St Mary Technical (39), Robert Lightbourne (11), Tacky (four) and Seaforth (three).
Shavan Jarrett of Titchfield won the boys’ Class One 1,500m event in a time of 4:21.32 minutes. Dwyte Leslie of St Mary Technical was second in 4:26.45 and Audley Thompson of Port Antonio clocked 4:31.65. Shone Walters of St Mary High won the girls’ equivalent in 4:48.60, ahead of Jada-Lee Wynter of Oberlin (5:35.64) and Shenroa Anderson of St Mary Technical (5:42.81).
Happy Grove’s Cleon Sewell won the boys’ Class One discus with a throw of 34.81m, in front of Titchfield’s Ruel Martin (33.99) and Tavaughn Duncan of St Thomas Technical (33.09m). Kimeisha Francis of St Mary High won the girls’ Class Two long jump equivalent with a leap of 5.30m, ahead of Cardia Mckenzie of Titchfield (5.07m) and Xanthe Gordon of St Mary High (4.67m).
Tyear Harris from Port Antonio captured the boys’ Class One long jump event with a mark of 6.43m, ahead of Jamar Reid of St Thomas Technical (5.93m) and Roemar Bryan of Morant Bay (5.90m).
