Williams hat-trick spurs Harmony in Tier II football
IRWIN, St James — Omar Williams scored a second-half hat-trick to lead Harmony FC of Trelawny to a 4-0 hammering of Sandy Bay FC of Hanover in Wednesday’s round of matches in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Tier II play-offs at Irwin High School in St James.
Goshen FC of St Elizabeth and Tuscany Warriors of Westmoreland were also winners over Los Perfectos of Manchester and Reggae Youths of St James, respectively, while the other game between Gray’s Inn and Brown’s Town ended in a 2-2 draw.
At Irwin High, Williams scored his hat-trick in a 16-minute blitz — in the 71st, 78th and 85th minutes — after Miguel Simpson had given them the lead in the 43rd minute.
Tuscanny Warriors scored a big win over Reggae Youths who had won their first game against Sandy Bay, taking an early 2-0 lead with goals from Davar Cole in the 10th minute and Javer Clarke in the 13th minute.
The St James champions mounted a second-half rally but their only reward was a goal in the 60th minute from Chadaine Blagrove, who was scoring in his second-straight game.
Nickoy Smith scored in the 13th minute and Javaughn Bromfield added a second in the 40th for Goshen to beat Los Perfectos 2-0 at the Hanbury playing field.
At the Annotto Bay Sports Complex, Brown’s Town rallied from a 2-0 deficit at half-time to earn a 2-2 draw with Gray’s Inn FC.
Gary McNeil in the 22nd minute and Kevar Levy in the 30th minute took the home team to a 2-0 lead, but Antwan Wilson pulled a goal back for Brown’s Town in the 53rd minute and Amari Bennett snatched a point when he scored in the 62nd.
