Quest security guard accused of claiming $600k in undeserved pay for brother
A trial date is expected to be set on March 17 for a Quest Security guard accused of writing undeserved payslips for her brother, costing the company over $600,000.
The accused, Amouy Hemmings appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday charged with 18 counts of conspiracy to defraud, one count of causing money to be paid by means of forged document and one count of access with intent to commit or facilitate the commission of an offence.
The allegations are that Hemmings was stationed as a Quest Security guard at the Windalco Bauxite plant. In her capacity as a security guard, she was also required to compile the hours of security officers for payroll. In August 2022, hours totalling 13 pay-cycles were paid to her brother, who started working at the security company in 2022. This, the court was told, resulted in the company losing $657,350.
In addition to making a fingerprint order for Hemmings, presiding judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague ordered her to surrender her travel documents and to report to the nearest police station on Wednesdays between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. Also, a stop order was placed at all ports.
Disclosure is also expected to be made on March 17.
