CARIFTA Trials to begin today at National Stadium
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The cream of the crop of Jamaica’s young sprinters will be on show on today’s opening day of the three day CARIFTA Trials set to start at 4:30 pm at the National Stadium.
The first round of the 100m in all four age groups, Under-17 and Under-20 male and female will be run this afternoon and the competition is expected to be fierce as the athletes seek spots on the team to the 50th CARIFTA Games to be held in the Bahamas, April 8-10.
National Under-20 record holder Bouwahjgie Nkrumie of Kingston College and Under-20 defending champion Deandre Daley of Herbert Morrison will lead the men, while World Under-20 Championships relay gold medallists Tia Clayton and Serena Cole will headline the Girls Under-20 section.
The finals will be run on Saturday.
In addition, there will be finals in all four shot put events on Friday, both Under-20 long jumps and Under-17 high jumps as well as the first rounds of the 400m and 1500m events.
