Racing, Brown’s Town into JFF Tier II league

DRAX HALL, St Ann — Racing United of St Catherine and Brown’s Town FC of St Ann have earned promotion to the Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) Tier II league after they won their play-off semi-final games on Saturday against Tuscany Warriors and Goshen FC, respectively.

Racing scored twice in time added on after coming from behind two times at Drax Hall to beat Westmoreland’s Tuscany Warriors 3-2. Brown’s Town edged Goshen FC of St Elizabeth 1-0 at Brooks Park in Mandeville, and the winners will meet in the final set for later this week and will contest the JFF Tier II league that is set to start later this month.

At Drax Hall, Tuscany Warriors — who had won the tough Group D — took the lead in the 10th minute through an own goal and led 1-0 at the half-time break.

Racing United equalised in the 48th minute through Deandre Johnson but Tuscany Warriors reclaimed the lead in the 56th minute when Ricardo Wynter scored.

John Christoff Pringle pulled Racing United level one minute into time added on and Raheem Edwards scored the winner a minute later.

At Brooks Park, Deshawn Bentley scored in the 27th minute for Brown’s Town as they got the better of Goshen FC.
