STETHS retain Headley Cup with win over May Day High
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) successfully defended their ISSA/Grace Headley Cup crown with a six-wicket victory over May Day High in the three-day final at STETHS Sports Complex.
Having gained a first-innings lead of 15 runs on Thursday’s last day, many-time champions STETHS restricted the first-time finalists to 122-9 declared in their second innings. STETHS then chased down the 108-run target, losing four wickets in the process.
Scores: May Day 202 and 122-9 decl; STETHS 217 and 108-4.
Earlier, May Day, batting a second time, reached 122-9 declared thanks to 54 from Javed Williams.
STETHS off spinner Malique Williams grabbed 4-23, while fast bowler Govasta Edmond took 3-32.
