Torpedo producer to release Focus EP
Having learnt the musical ropes from his father Wayne Lonesome, producer Wayne Brown (Lone Don) decided on a career in music at an early age.
Two years ago he scored one of the biggest hits of his career, Torpedo by Skillibeng, which has to date racked up more than 10 million views on YouTube.
“I used to co-produce on my dad’s label, Run Things Records, and work on songs with artistes such as John Holt, Sugar Minott, Gregory Isaacs, and Ninja Man. And that’s where it all started,” said Lone Don.
Lone Don is set to release his first collection of songs via an EP titled Focus.
The project will showcase established as well as up-and-coming acts including Charly Black, Jahmiel, Chronic Law, Yung Bredda, Di Ruption, and Lavisch.
Aside from reggae and dancehall, there will be some electronic dance music (EDM) songs on the project. Lone Don says this is an attempt to widen his fan base.
“I want to build my fan base and tap into different markets, that’s why the decision was made to include different genres of music,” he shared.
According to Lone Don, he decided to include new talent in an attempt to highlight what exists in the musical landscape.
He shared, however, that there were some challenges working on the project.
“Getting back the files from the artistes in time was a challenge because an artiste is either on a different side of the island or travelling or residing overseas,” said Lone Don.
He made his solo production debut with the Big People riddim in 2018. It featured mostly veteran acts, including Jah Mason, singer Foxy Brown and Cornel Campbell.
Originally from east Kingston, Lone Don attended Kingston College. He says his creativity and melodies are what make his productions stand out.
His other hit songs include Nuh Sure by Chronic Law, Statistic by Bayka, Buzzy by Laa Lee, and Gorgeous by Jahvillani.
