#PennRelays: JC win 4x100m final
PHILADELPHIA, USA – Jamaica College got some redemption as they won the high school boys’ championships of Americas 4x100m relays on Friday’s second day of the Penn Relays Carnival at a wet and cold Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
After a miserable first day when they were disqualified in the 4x800m and failed to advance in the 4x400m, the Old Hope Road boys redeemed themselves in the sprint relay as they clocked 40.97 seconds to hold off St Elizabeth Technical- 41.19 seconds and Archbishop John Carroll of Washington DC- 41.19 seconds.
Camperdown High, who won last year, were fourth, followed by Kingston College and Wolmer’s Boys. St Jago High did not complete the race.
Excelsior High set a race record 41.04 seconds to win the international final, holding off Calabar High, 41.12 seconds, and Herbert Morrison Technical, 41.87 seconds. St Catherine High were fifth, Edwin Allen sixth and William Knibb Memorial eighth.
