Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance the most-watched in history
With revised numbers from television ratings service, Nielsen, Rihanna’s halftime performance at the 2023 Super Bowl becomes the most-watched in the history of the game.
The revelation was made on Tuesday. Rihanna’s performance was previously rated the second most-watched halftime performance ever.
According to Nielsen, 121 million viewers tuned in to see the Bajan national hero make her grand return to the stage after a five-year hiatus. The entertainer not only used the Super Bowl stage to re-introduce herself to music lovers worldwide, but she also took the widely publicised event to debut her baby bump. Rihanna is pregnant with her second child by rapper A$AP Rocky.
According to an article from USA Today, Nielsen said 115.1 million viewers watched the Chiefs defeat the Eagles 38-35 on February 12 on Fox, Fox Deportes and streaming services. They had previously reported that the broadcast was watched by 113.06 million people.
The previous most-watched Super Bowl was 114.4 million viewers for Super Bowl 49 in 2015, when the New England Patriots battled the Seattle Seahawks. That year Katy Perry was the game’s halftime show headliner.
