Canadian attempts to flee airport, held with over $11-m in cocaine
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A Canadian man who attempted to outrun police at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Tuesday has been arrested and charged after he was caught with cocaine in his possession.
The man, who also has a residence in Jamaica, was charged after cocaine valued approximately CAN$100,000 (J$11.2 million) was found concealed on his person.
He is Allister Christie from Above Rocks, St Andrew, and Mississauga, Ontario addresses.
Christie is charged with possession, dealing in, taking steps to export and conspiracy to export cocaine. He will appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on May 9, 2023.
Reports indicate that Christie checked in at the airport in Kingston to board a departing flight to Canada. During security procedures, anomalies were detected and Christie attempted to flee the airport.
However, he was intercepted, and during a detailed search by Narcotics detectives, the drug was found concealed on his body.
He was detained and later slapped with the charges.
