THE Desnoes & Geddes (D&G) Foundation is calling on communities islandwide to enter the Sustainable Streets Community Competition for a chance to win one of three $1-million grants for Labour Day projects focused on environmental conservation and sustainability.

The Sustainable Streets entry process opened on May 3 and runs until Wednesday, May 10.

“Labour Day holds a special place in the hearts of all Jamaicans; it is a time to collaborate on initiatives that uplift our people and communities. We, therefore, see Labour Day as the perfect opportunity to encourage sustainable practices that will have long-term positive impact for communities,” asserted D&G Foundation Director Dianne Ashton-Smith.

Ashton-Smith continued, “Sustainability is, after all, at the heart of everything the D&G Foundation does and as such legacy initiatives with the primacy to bring about cultural change and build positive habits are of keen interest to the D&G Foundation.”

Communities interested in entering D&G Foundation’s Sustainable Streets Community Competition must do so virtually using the link https://ywv72a9rh5k.typeform.com/to/Uq1h7Ij2. Entrants are required to complete the entry form and follow the @D&GFoundation and @RedStripeCorporate social media pages.

Additionally, entrants should encourage community members to support their online entries through likes and comments that include the name of their community project. To be eligible for the competition, projects must be successfully started on May 23 and completed by May 31, 2023.

“We look forward to partnering on the selected projects with fellow Jamaicans who share our dream of achieving sustainability at the community level,” Ashton-Smith said.
