Love, the mysterious force that can find its home in the most unexpected of places, definitely found its place in the hearts of Chevanice Chance and Lance Corporal Moraise Jackson.

Their paths first crossed as children, mere acquaintances brought together by their parents. School years kept them in touch and in fact ignited a spark that led to stolen glances and shy smiles. A romance blossomed and love letters were exchanged. “Each morning was made a bit brighter with seeing each other’s face and each evening ever better with warm embraces. This was the start of the greatest love story to date,” Moraise fondly recalled to Tuesday Style Vows.

This was no puppy love! It was no walk in the park either. Miscommunication and jealousy seeped in, causing a separation of seven years.

Cupid’s quivering arrow afforded them another chance at love, however. Their hearts reconnected and their feelings for each other reignited. Moraise, determined to win over Chevanice’s heart once more, pursued her with unwavering fervour, overcoming any of her doubts.

Will You Be Mine?

Moraise asked for Chevanice’s hand in marriage on November 8, 2019. “I made it clear to her that she was destined to be my wife, even though it was not a formal proposal,” he recounted. Chevanice reassured him of a love that would endure as she accepted.

Time went by, and their love continued to bloom.

T’was a rainy day in Kingston, on August 24, 2022; Moraise was undeterred. Braving the storm, he made his way to Chevanice’s place of employment, where he went down on one knee, and ring in hand, asked her to be his wife. Her answer: A resounding yes!

The Beginning Of Forever

The union of Moraise Jackson and Chevanice Chance was solemnised at the Temple Hall New Testament St Andrew. The officiant, Pastor Leopold Porter, extended a warm welcome to the gathered guests. The groom, in anticipation, made his entrance to the dulcet tones of Kenny Lattimore’s For You, flanked by his groomsmen.

The soaring notes of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri alerted all of the bride’s arrival. You could have heard a pin drop as she made her way to her anxious bridegroom, escorted by proud dad Jahmin Hamm. Chevanice stunned in a ballgown from Bliss Bridal adorned with crystals and sequins. The bodice, made of sheer fabric, revealed a display of boning, with delicate off-the-shoulder straps. In her hand she clutched a bouquet of white roses.

The newly-weds described the ceremony as a jubilant affair, even as smiles mingled freely with tears of joy.

The Reception @ Sebastian’s Grill N Lounge

The newly-weds and their party made their entrance into Sebastian’s Grill N Lounge to coordinated dance routines, to the delight of their guests. “The night was filled with speeches, well wishes, and words of encouragement from our family members and friends,” Chevanice said. The evening continued with more dances and games. The traditional bouquet and garter toss were met with eager anticipation, as were the cutting of the traditional wedding cake by Sharon Rufus and the chocolate and vanilla cake with cream cheese filling baked by @theflourgirlja.

The sumptuous dinner catered by Audrey Bowes, the bride’s aunt, was described by the newly-weds as a culinary delight. After, they enjoyed their first dance as husband and wife to Bank on It by Burna Boy.

The newly-weds later honeymooned at the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay.
