Wolmer’s family hails Fraser-Pryce after world sportswoman of the year win
The Wolmer’s Trust is lauding Wolmerian Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for her latest accomplishment, the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year title.
Fraser-Pryce queen beat out five other nominees – Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone; Iga Swiatek; Alexia Putellas; Mikaela Shiffrin and Katie Ledecky – to earn the award.
In a release on Tuesday, the Wolmer’s Trust hailed Fraser-Pryce as “a distinguished daughter of Waterhouse” and “an exemplary Wolmerian”.
“The Wolmer’s Trust applauds our own Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for being selected the 2023 Laureus Sportswoman of the Year, an honour which not only recognises her athletic accomplishments but, more importantly, the mettle and character of an athlete who the world views as exemplary,” the release stated.
It said Fraser-Pryce’s journey “is a thesis in courage, determination and humanity which we at Wolmer’s celebrate with admiration.
“The Wolmer’s Trust, and the entire Wolmer’s Family, joins Jason, Zyon and all Jamaicans at home and abroad in celebrating with Ambassador, the Honourable Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, superior athlete, UNICEF Jamaica Goodwill Ambassador, children’s rights advocate, entrepreneur, author and philanthropist, her latest achievement and distinct contribution to her growing legacy,” the release added.
