Reno rebound?
LLANDILO, Westmoreland — RENO FC will be hoping to rebound from last weekend’s loss when they take on Lime Hall Academy in a Jamaica Football Federation Tier II game at Llandilo Sports Complex, set to start at 3:30 pm on Saturday.
Reno FCm, who are in the competition for the first time, are in seventh place on six points — after winning two games and losing two others — but are only a point out of the semi-final spots after four games.
Four teams from the Western Confederation are taking part in the competition that will see the two finalists replace Faulkland FC and Chapelton Maroons who were relegated from the Jamaica Premier League this season.
Faulkland FC from St James and Chapelton Maroons from Clarendon were the finalists in last year’s first staging of the Tier II competition.
Falmouth United, who were in the semi-finals last season, are in third position on eight points; Wadada United, who won their first game last weekend, are in 11th place in the 14-team league; while Hopewell United are in 13th position.
After losing their first game, beaten 2-1 by Treasure Beach, Reno FC won back-to-back games by an aggregate 8-3 scoreline but were beaten 2-1 by Tru-Juice FC on Saturday, after they got to the venue late because of a mechanical issue with their team bus.
Reno FC will face a Lime Hall Academy team who are in fifth place on seven points, coming off a 3-1 win over Downs FC on Saturday, and who will be confident they can win their second game away from home.
If they are to win on Saturday, Reno FC will be depending on Michael Kerr, Abijah Wallace and Raheem Kerr, all of who have scored two goals so far.
Carlos Campbell scored a double last Saturday for Lime Hall and could be the man to lead the St Ann team this weekend.
Meanwhile, Falmouth United play away to Downs FC in Manchester, Hopewell United are away at Drax Hall against Brown’s Town, and Wadada United will travel to Prison Oval to face Racing United.
