TUCKER, St James — Former champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary and Catherine Hall Primary could both qualify for the quarter-finals of the St James Football Association Victoria Mutual Foundation Uplift Under-13 competition in today’s two rescheduled games at Wespow Park.

Corinaldi Avenue, who lead Zone B, will take on contenders Mt Salem Primary in the 10:00 am game, while Catherine Hall, who are second in Zone D, will face Buckingham Primary, starting at 11:30 am.

Howard Cooke Primary secured their place on Wednesday after beating Somerton Primary 3-0 and became the fourth school through to the next round, joining Barracks Road Primary and Green Pond Primary from Zone C and John Rollins Success Primary from Zone D.

Corinaldi Avenue Primary are on nine points with two games to go and a win today would ensure them at least second place in the group.

Mt Salem are still in contention for a place but must win to keep their hopes alive.

Catherine Hall Primary are also on nine points but will need only a point against out-of-contention Buckingham Primary to qualify for the next round.

Howard Cooke secured their place as Zone A winners, beating Somerton Primary 3-0 with goals from Jayden Harvey in the 29th minute, Jaheim Walker in the 35th minute as they led 2-0 at half-time before Waiden Mitchell added a third in the 58th minute.

Montego Bay Prep stayed in contention with a 4-1 win over Dumfries Primary with Zamundha Brown scoring a first-half double with goals in the 12th and 31st minutes to take his tally to six goals on the season.

Hyden Gildene also scored for Montego Bay Prep in the 58th minute while an own goal had made it 3-0 in the 29th minute.

Jaleel Robinson had made it 1-1 when he scored for Dumfries Primary in the 19th minute.

In another game, defending champions Granville Primary kept their slim hopes of advancing alive when they beat Anchovy Primary 3-0, Elcanah Ferguson scored two goals, in the 18th and 56th minutes after Shane Allen had given them the lead in the sixth minute.
