NAIN, St Elizabeth — People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding has called on aspirants vying to represent the party in the next parliamentary election to settle differences in constituencies.

Golding, in comparing the comradeship between two aspirants for the St Elizabeth South Eastern seat — businessman Mervin “Bobby” Myers and attorney Ian Stephenson — urged those vying to represent the party to settle their differences.

“For us to win back Government in this country we haffi win South East St Elizabeth… so we all haffi do this thing right — and the thing involves coming together under one umbrella, oneness, to put in the work. Comrades, I am asking you tonight: All [the] little differences, settle them out and put them aside. One heart wi a deal wid, one unity, one movement, moving to victory for South East St Elizabeth,” said Golding who was addressing the PNP’s Myersville divisional conference here in Nain, Sunday night.

“In the wider St Elizabeth, oonu fi tek a page out of the book of South East [St Elizabeth] when it comes to how the candidate selection thing a go, and mek wi just calm down the thing and make the process go through and whoever wins, and we move forward,” he added.

Golding’s plea was apparently in reference to ongoing campaigns in St Elizabeth North Eastern. Chairman of the PNP’s Region Five Kern Spencer and lawyer Zuleika Jess are vying to represent the party in that constituency in the next parliamentary election, due in 2025.
