TUCKER, St James — Former champions Corinaldi Avenue and Flankers Primary schools completed the quarter-finals of the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Uplift Under-13 Competition as the first round ended at WesPow Park on Wednesday.

Corinaldi Avenue topped Zone B after they were awarded points when Barrett Town failed to show for their game, while Flankers got the point they need after playing out a 1-1 draw against Lethe Primary.

In one other game, Irwin Primary edged Mt Salem 1-0 in another Zone B game played at WesPow Park.

Corinaldi Avenue finished with 15 points after winning all five first-round games. They will meet Catherine Hall in next week’s quarter-final while Flankers, who were second with 10 points, will face John Rollins Success Primary.

In the other two quarter-final games Howard Cooke Primary will face Green Pond and Montego Bay Prep will take on Barracks Road Primary.

On Wednesday Flankers took the lead against Lethe in the 55th minute but shared the points after Jake McFarlane scored for Lethe Primary, who got their first point of the season.

Joel Murray’s 11th-minute goal gave Irwin Primary their third win of the season but they fell short of advancing.
