Thomas-Dodd sets shot put area record in Sweden
Danniel Thomas-Dodd was the only Jamaican winner at Sunday’s Folksam Grand Prix in Sollentuna, Sweden, as she set an area record 19.66m while winning the women’s shot put event.
The world number three ranked thrower dominated the competition and beat Portugal’s Auriol Dongmo (19.05m) and Sarah Mitton of Canada who was third with 18.81m.
Her countryman Fedrick Dacres was third in the men’s discus throw with a best mark of 65.87m, finishing behind Sweden’s Daniel Stahl who threw a season’s best 70.93, just off Mykolas Alekna’s world-leading 71.00m. Austria’s Lukas Weishaidinger was third with 65.95m.
Veteran Jamaican sprinter Jura Levy was fifth in the women’s 100m A final in 11.46 seconds (1.7m/s).
