Hickling wins long jump in Estonia
Jamaica’s Tissanna Hickling was a winner at Friday’s Heino Lipp Memorial at the Linnastaadion in Johvi, Estonia, taking the honours in the women’s long jump with 6.35m.
Hickling was competing in her third European event in the last two weeks, had placed second at a meeting in Switzerland with 6.59m on June 10 and had won in Nancy, France, the next day with 6.53m.
On Friday, she beat Ukraine’s Olha Korsun- 6.09m, while Norway’s Ida Beiter Bomme was third with 5.94m.
Fedric Dacres was third in the men’s discus throw with 66.12m, as Kristjan Ceh of Slovenia won with a world-leading 71.86m, while Daniel Stahl was second with a season’s best 71.45m.
On Thursday, Nayoka Clunis was second in the women’s hammer throw with 70.41m on the first day of the Iron Wood throws classic in Idaho.
She will return to action on Saturday when she will compete in the hammer throw on the second day of the event.
