Exemplary dad Delroy Bowla marks 70

Delroy Bowla couldn’t have asked for more.

His 70th birthday saw him in the company of his loving family and friends on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston in what was a celebration of the man regarded as an exemplary father and husband.

“I genuinely believe that when God gave us parents, this earthly parent-child relationship is intended to reflect the father-child relationship that He desires to have with us,” wrote associate clinical psychologist Keisha Bowla Hines who calls Bowla Papa, given that, from she was four years old, she was raised by Bowla and his wife Verna.

“From my Papa, I learnt more about the quality relationship that God, my Heavenly Father, wants to have with me. Papa is not God, but I can say from the bottom of my heart that he has set the example of an extraordinarily loving and caring father. My current relationship with God, my Heavenly Father, is modelled in how Papa relates to me as his child,” added Bowla Hines, who never misses an opportunity to thank the man who made tremendous sacrifice to see to her well-being despite being the breadwinner for his family as well as his mother and father who were also dependent on him.
