Business titan Lois Lake Sherwood has died
Lois Lake Sherwood, the woman responsible for taking Burger King to Jamaica, has died.
Lake Sherwood also served as managing director of Restaurant Associates Ltd, operators of Burger King and Popeyes.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that Sherwood died at her St Andrew home on Saturday afternoon after ailing for some time.
Sherwood was an accomplished and successful visual artist, but it was her business endeavours that brought her notoriety as she sat on the boards of several Jamaican companies, the most significant being Restaurant Associates Ltd, the company that holds the franchise for Burger King and Popeyes restaurants in Jamaica.
Sherwood was also the creator of the Mahogany House furniture store.
Burger King is currently the second-largest fast-food franchise in Jamaica, with approximately 19 outlets in Jamaica.
