California woman dragged by car after chasing robber who stole her Gucci glasses
A 69-year-old California woman was left injured after she was dragged by a robber’s car as she tried to prevent him from stealing her Gucci sunglasses. Later, the elderly woman stated that she would do it all over again.
According to KTVU, the woman was enjoying a snack as she sat in her parked car about 3 pm Sunday when a white car stopped behind her and the driver walked up to her.
The man reportedly reached inside her vehicle, grabbed her purse – containing her pricey Gucci prescription sunglasses – and ran back to his car.
The woman reportedly jumped out of her car and tried to prevent the thief from driving away.
Video footage, which captured the incident, showed the 69-year-old being dragged several feet before she finally fell to the road.
“That was what pushed me to go after him – because I want(ed) my glasses,” the gutsy woman, who asked not to be named, said. “I cannot see without glasses.”
She added: “I’m pissed off because this guy was looking for somebody, and I feel violated. I feel violated, but I feel good because I put (up) a fight.”
The victim said she suffered a head injury and was left bloodied in the terrifying incident but had no regrets.
“For me, to fight all the way to the end, I feel good about it,” she said.
Bach Ha, the bystander who shot the video, stated: “When he drove off, I think it caused her to basically just crash into the ground, and when she got up, she was like dazed.”
Police Chief Nishant Joshi urged people not to resist their attackers.
“Personal items can be replaced, but personal safety, that’s something that we never want to compromise,” Joshi said.
“My heart goes out to her. I think the natural instinct or inclination is to go try to get your property back. But there’s a lot of risks that come with that. And in this case, she was injured,” the top cop added.
No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
