PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago — Following the successful staging of the 30th anniversary of Reggae Sumfest, Caribbean Airlines, the festival’s presenting sponsor, said that after a week of “unforgettable music and cultural celebrations,” it is “reaffirming its commitment to supporting regional events that exemplify the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean.”

According to a release on Monday, Caribbean Airlines said the festival – which culminated on Saturday night at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, St James – showcased the best reggae and Caribbean music has to offer and has once again “captured the hearts of culture enthusiasts globally.”

“The event, which kickstarted on July 16, serves as a powerful platform to unite people from diverse backgrounds, reinforcing the shared heritage that binds us as a region,” the release read.

Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, shared that aligning with the airline’s mission Reggae Sumfest has connected people across the world for three decades.

“Reggae Sumfest resonates with the people of Jamaica and the Caribbean. Our airline’s mission has always been to connect our people, not only through our extensive network but also by nurturing the rich cultural ties that unite us,” he said. “Sponsoring this iconic festival is not just a gesture; it is a tangible demonstration of our unwavering commitment to supporting the communities we serve and promoting the cultural richness that defines us as Caribbean people.”

In commenting, Joe Bogdanovich, CEO of Dowsound Entertainment, producers of the festival, said his team was thrilled to re-establish its partnership with the airline as “their genuine interest in celebrating authentic Jamaican culture is a significant vote of confidence for Reggae Sumfest, – particularly as we celebrate our 30th year. They really get that connections with our culture matter, not just in Jamaica, but across the region.”

Caribbean Airlines said it is happy to have been part of Reggae Sumfest 2023 and is already looking forward to next year’s staging.
