Vaz takes legal action against PNP gen sec over comments at party rally

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Science, Daryl Vaz has taken legal action against General Secretary of the People’s National Party (PNP) Dr Dayton Campbell for comments he has deemed defamatory.

During a recent PNP gathering, Campbell allegedly made libelous remarks about Vaz who is now seeking damages.

In a copy of the lawsuit obtained by OBSERVER ONLINE, Vaz’s legal team highlighted that the defamatory statements were livestreamed to thousands of viewers and that in addition to cost alluding to damages, Vaz is also seeking interest pursuant to the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act.

After being served with the documents, Campbell has two weeks to respond to Minister Vaz’s lawsuit.
