Scotia x AMEX: Live Life To The Fullest

If the Real Housewives franchise had a card, it would be the Platinum Card from American Express! The card, once considered the premium travel card, has been reimagined as the ultimate premium lifestyle accessory alongside of course the Hermès Birkin.

Backed by American Express, Scotiabank (Jamaica) on Sunday, July 30, launched the Platinum Card in metal for its Rock-based clientele. The focus, as outlined by Scotia Group Jamaica Limited President & CEO Audrey Tugwell Henry, is to exceed the expectations of top-tier card customers in Jamaica.

The activation took place at Caymanas Polo Club, where Tugwell Henry welcomed an international contingent from American Express, Scotiabank’s global honchos, valued customers, and business leaders to the ‘platinum’ soirée.

Invitees, many of them seated at tables helmed by Scotiabank team members, were introduced to the features and benefits of the card, in between delectable bites from the evening’s guest chefs. Compère Simone Clarke further enlightened, though it was obvious many on the guest list already knew exactly where the Amex Platinum could land them.

“Scotiabank Jamaica has entered [in] an exclusive arrangement with American Express, to be the first licensee in Jamaica to issue the American Express Platinum Card. As a result of this partnership I am very proud and excited to introduce you to the newest product (and this is where we want the very big round of applause): The Platinum Card from Scotiabank…. is the first in the Jamaican market and this card will empower you to live life to the fullest,” said Tugwell Henry to cheers. “This is a very significant milestone for us, in our 134-year history.”

American Express Senior Commercial Vice-President of Bank Partnerships – Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean Mario Luna was also delighted with the expansion of an existing global relationship.

“We are here today to celebrate this incredible partnership… this is a very important time for us at American Express, and as you may know, we work every day to offer the best products around the globe. Now, in alliance with Scotiabank, starting today we will be able to offer, for the first time ever in Jamaica, the American Express Platinum Card. This is a unique product, not only because it’s the first metal card in Jamaica, but this card also has some very exclusive travel benefits and premium extras offshore. For example, we have access to the Centurion Lounge in airports in almost every part of the world. Imagine going to New York, to Miami, to the UK. You can enter through the American Express lounges,” he explained. And there’s more. “All the Platinum Card members have access to exclusive events. I personally love the tennis,” added Luna.

With the world of premium and unique travel and dining experiences at their fingertips, the 300-plus guests dined in style, before being fêted by instrumentalists Trudy and Gabby Clarke, Verlando Small, and Tessanne “The Voice” Chin, who brought the house down.

There was more! The platinum experience continued in the blue and white-themed cocktail lounge whose décor was spearheaded by lead designer Shikima Hinds and executed by Krafted by Design, where guests danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Courtney.
