PNP mourns passing of former Councillor Phylene Muirhead-Wilson
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The People’s National Party (PNP) is mourning the passing of former Councillor for the Welcome Hall Division, Phylene Muirhead-Wilson.
Muirhead-Wilson, who served as the representative for the Division from 1998 to 2003, passed away on August 6.
“Comrade Muirhead-Wilson’s unwavering commitment to public service exemplified the core values of the PNP. Her tenure as a councillor was marked by a deep sense of responsibility and an unyielding determination to uplift the lives of those she represented. Beyond party lines, her genuine care for the residents of the Welcome Hall Division and her dedication to the entire parish of St James was undeniable,” PNP said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Comrade Phylene Muirhead-Wilson’s life was a testament to the power of selfless service and community spirit. She was not only a councillor but a true advocate for positive change, and her impact reached beyond politics, resonating with individuals from all walks of life,” said Dr Dayton Campbell, general secretary.
The PNP added that Muirhead-Wilson’s approach to governance transcended divisive politics.
“Her ability to foster unity and collaboration, coupled with her genuine concern for the well-being of her constituents, garnered her the admiration and respect of her peers. Her legacy is a reminder that true leadership knows no party lines and that the bonds of community are stronger than any political differences,” the Party expressed.
