Two hospitalised following St Catherine home invasion by men pretending to be police
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— A man and a 15-year-old boy have been hospitalised after six men who reportedly pretended to be police kicked in the door of their house in Waterloo district, St Catherine, and robbed the occupants, before beating them and shooting them when they tried to escape.
Reports are that both complainants were at home in bed sleeping on Tuesday morning around 3:45 when they were awoken by the sound of men outside shouting “police”.
The men then allegedly kicked open the front door to the house, and six men entered— five of whom had high powered weapons, and one had a handgun.
The gunmen then held up the complainants and robbed them of their properties before hitting them several times over their bodies.
The complainants managed to escape the house but were fired on by the gunmen. The boy was shot in both legs and the man was shot on his right arm. However, the injured man and boy successfully escaped in the area and made a report to the police.
They were assisted by lawmen to the Spanish Town Hospital where they are being treated.
