Law Enforcement Torch Run nabs $4m for Special Olympics Jamaica
THE aim was to raise at least $3 million, but on Thursday the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) handed over a cheque for $4 million to Special Olympics Jamaica (SOJ) from the 2023 Law Enforcement Torch Run.
The money was the JCF’s contribution to SOJ for the team’s participation in the 2023 Special Olympics World Games, which was held in Berlin, Germany, from June 17-25. Jamaica won 18 medals at the Games.
The JCF was supported in its fund-raising drive by its partners the Jamaica Defence Force; the Department of Corrections; the Jamaica Fire Brigade; the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency; and the Jamaica Customs Agency.
