Soca+ promoters to host charity football match ahead of festival

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The directors of I Love Soca Cooler Festival, promoters of Soca+ Festival, will be hosting a six-a-side charity football match on Monday at Sabina Park in Kingston.

The charity event commences at 6:00 pm with 10 registered teams that will be playing to win a Soca+ cabana with 12 complimentary tickets, a premium bottle and a 750ml bottle of Campari.

“As individuals, we have always done philanthropic efforts but this year in celebration of 12 years of I Love Soca Cooler Festival and our second staging of Soca+ as a 12-hour music festival; we’ve decided to show our gratitude through an organised charity engagement with ALL proceeds being donated to the University of the West Indies Hospital Renal Unit,” said Andrew Bellamy, managing director of I Love Soca Cooler Festival.

Powered by Campari, teams have been invited to participate with an entry fee of $20,000, with all spectators free to enter the match.

The knockout rounds will last eight minutes, the quarter-finals 10 minutes, the semi-finals will last for 12 and the final is scheduled for 15 minutes.

In addition to the first-place winners, the second-place team will receive 12 complimentary tickets, one table and two bottles of 750ml of Campari, while third place will earn six complimentary tickets, one table and one bottle of 750ml of Campari.

“We want to thank all the teams that have come forward to participate for this cause not just for competitive bragging rights and a chance to have an elevated experience at Soca+ but most importantly to contribute to the assistance we will be giving to the Renal Unit at the University Hospital because the truth is; we never know when our family, friends or any one of us will need to use the services of these places and we want to ensure that whoever uses it gets the best care with the best resources,” said Bellamy.

The second staging of the festival will commence at 10:00 pm on Saturday, September 30 until 10:00 am on October 1 at Sabina Park.

Patrons are able to bring coolers from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am

The event also features performances by Destra, Aidonia and Skinny Fabulous. After performances, the event will have a “cool down” element with a water zone activated and complimentary breakfast being available at 7:00 am.

Tickets are still available at www.socaplusfestival.com.
