A 13-year-old boy and four other children who were also in the house managed to escape from the gunmen, police said. No motive has yet been established for the attack.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that around 2:15 am, three men, all dressed in dark clothing, wearing masks and armed with handguns, gained entry by forcing open a front door and grille.
The men, police said, entered and began to question the adults. They then opened gunfire on them, killing all four on the spot. The children later escaped and sought help.
The men then made their escape. The police said their mode of transport is unknown.
The police were alerted, and on their arrival, the bodies of the four victims were seen.
McGrath was found lying face down in blood in an upstairs room clad in a burgundy tank top and burgundy tights with a white sweater tied around her waist.
Higgins’ body was seen on its back in a downstairs bedroom clad in a grey tank top, black and white skirt and black slippers.
Johnson was seen lying on her side in a downstairs bedroom clad in a white t-shirt, camouflage pants and blue socks, while Kevin’s body was found on his back in a downstairs bedroom, clad in a black t-shirt and black shorts.
It was reported that a fifth man was heard crying out for help in nearby bushes. The police tried to make visual contact, but that proved futile.
