H’View looking to prevent Robinhood stealing the points
Harbour View Head Coach Ludlow Bernard says they are bracing themselves for a tough encounter when they take on Group B leaders Robinhood of Suriname in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup at National Stadium at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Harbour View are second in the standings on four points, two behind Robinhood, who lead the group with six points. A victory for Harbour View will see them leapfrogging their opponents in the standings. They are followed by Pantoja on three and Dunbeholden and Cibao on one point each.
Bernard says their opponents are a good all-round side and they are expecting a pulsating contest from the visitors.
“Historically, it has been a club that has been around for while, probably the same time as Harbour View, so that means that they have tradition,” Bernard said.
“As for the team itself, they seem to have a very good team, a very strong team, and some very notable individuals are on their team — plus one player who scored a brace the last time against Dunbeholden. Clearly, he will be a factor in the course of the game and there are some good players in their team.
“However I think on the day, Harbour View has to focus on what Harbour View has to do, and with all due respect to the other team, we have to play our guts out to get the result.”
Bernard says that their preparations going into the game have not been ideal, but he is upbeat that his team will go out and give a good account of themselves.
“The quality of the performances can be better, but I can’t fault the players for the efforts that they have been putting in,” he said. “With a few more weeks under our belt, in terms of preparation, I think the opportunity is there for us to go out there and get a more-than-positive result come Wednesday evening and, of course, the players are in good shape both physically and mentally.”
Harbour View’s Captain Jahshaun Anglin says once his teammates follow the coach’s instructions they will come out with a positive result.
“This competition means a lot to me, knowing that I am playing at the highest level, playing in Concacaf and not just the Premier League,” he said. “We just need to go out there as a team and put out the hard work and just put out the information that the coach gives.”
