Christiana High make progress in d’Cup Zone G
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Christiana High moved into joint leadership of Zone G in the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition on Friday after beating a slumping Knox College 5-0 in their return round game played at Kirkvine.
Christiana High got revenge for their 2-1 first round loss and moved into joint lead with Mile Gully High both on 15 points but has played two games more than Mile Gully.
Bellefield High missed an opportunity to stay in contact with the leaders as they were beaten 2-1 by Holmwood Technical who they had beaten 2-0 in the first round.
Port Antonio High moved into second place in Zone N after blanking Fair Prospect High 4-0 with Andre Bernard scoring a double and Jahrese Arthurs scoring one while an own goal had opened the scoring.
The teams finished with 10 players after Port Antonio High’s Jerold Speid and Fair Prospect High’s Kerone George were expelled for violent conduct in time added at the end of the second half.
Second round qualifiers Morant Bay High dropped points for the first time as they went down 2-1 to Yallahs High who they had beaten 3-2 in the first round.
Yallahs High are still third in Zone K with six points as Morant Bay lead with 12 points followed by Paul Bogle High on nine points.
After just failing to make it to the play-offs in Zone C, York Castle took out their frustrations on whipping boys Discovery Bay High with an 11-2 victory.
Kemarie Hunter scored five goals to take his total to 12 while Revaldo Carter scored two.
Twenty-one of York Castle’s 34 goals this season have come against the newcomers after they beat them 10-0 in the first round.
