Good In The Hood
Hooded dresses are a Milan Fashion Week (MFW) trend we’re copying, Stat!
With the many changes of creative directors at lead fashion houses Gucci and Tom Ford, MFW was certainly a wave of transition. Nonetheless, there was some amount of consistency across the presentations that made the top Spring 2024 trends easy to identify. And one we’re excited about is the hooded dress.
This dress is not new, but its allure remains timeless. Azzedine Alaïa catapulted the aesthetic in the 1980s with help of course from our very own Grace Jones. Jones called upon the late Tunisian couturier to help curate her wardrobe for the 1985 James Bond movie A View to a Kill, bringing his signature hooded designs to the big screen.
And, years later, the style is back. Celebrities like Beyoncé, Kate Moss, and Bella Hadid have all taken goddess-worthy hooded confections for a spin this year. And we’ve seen iterations on the Diesel, Vivetta and Alberta Ferretti runways.
Whether attached to the actual garment or fashioned as a detachable scarf à la Vivetta Spring/Summer ’24, head covering is quite the rage.
And because the trend is not just for movie stars and models, Tuesday Style Fshion (TSF) has rounded up some of the best hooded looks we’ve spotted on Rock-fab fashionistas this year.
